We catch-up with Tiwi College Art Teacher, Anne Mcmaster, to hear about the new printing press.
As the art teacher of Tiwi College, I wish to pass on the student’s gratitude and excitement when they received a large printing press at the end of last year. Students across all year levels are able to extend their knowledge and skills in the visual arts curriculum and learn how to make lino and mono prints, and etchings. Their learnt skills should be of value when they return to their communities and practice their skills in their art centres, which also have small printmaking presses.
Presently the Senior Girls Art class are taking advantage of learning many printmaking skills to enhance their visual diaries for year 11 and 12 assessment. Proudly I watch the students create traditional and contemporary designs on their lino plates. Using a press to print adds to the professionalism and quality control aspect of making good art. Thank you Hayden Reynolds Project for your generous donation to the students’ curriculum areas. Possibly we can work on producing a portfolio of small prints that you may wish to gift to your wonderful staff networks.
Happy days of printing ….Anne Mcmaster
