The model for the College sustainability is based on Matthew Hayden’s “Home Ground” program.
The initial design for the garden was mapped out on a napkin on one of Matthew’s stays at the College.
The drive behind the garden program is two-fold:
- Offer the kids fresh fruit, vegetables and poultry; and
- Give the children fresh career alternatives with courses based around the garden and its activities.
By creating this new and abundant environment, the kids are finding not only a peaceful and healthy place to work and study, but have a new incentive, on many levels, to a better future.
